What-to-do-frozen-shoulder

Frozen Shoulder

AKA adhesive capsulitis. This very painful and often progressive condition affects the shoulder joint capsule and associated muscles, particularly after injury to the shoulder. Painful and limited arcs of motion often begin with a specific injury, however it is the ensuing lack of use and movement which causes this condition. Once the shoulder is no longer used in normal daily activities, the joint capsule begins to stiffen and shrink. Movement provides the mechanism for maintaining appropriate shoulder ranges of motion and supports metabolism to the joint. The adage, “use it or loose it” certainly pertains to the shoulder joint complex, and is why early therapeutic treatment can help prevent this debilitating condition.
